Chambered Grave and Souterrain, Magheramore Road, Carnanbane TD, Dungiven, Co Londonderry

This is the remains of a court tomb, dating from between 3800 BC and 2500 BC. Located on the Magheramore Road in Carnanbane, near Dungiven, County Londonderry, it sits in the corner of a field adjacent to the Magheramore townland boundary. The structure is a long, two-chambered grave, described more accurately as a court or horned cairn. Although much of the cairn has been removed historically, several upright stones, known as orthostats, remain and likely mark the chamber or entrance. The souterrain (underground passage) could not be identified. It is believed that a circle of standing stones, approximately 13 metres in diameter, originally defined the cairn. The site, previously considered a standing stone, is now used as a standing stone and serves as a monument.
