Greystone Hall Special School, 2 Ballyquin Road, Limavady, Co Londonderry BT49 9ET

Greystone Hall Special School is a post-war school building constructed between 1940 and 1959 on the site of the former Greystone Hall, located in the townland of Rathbrady More, Limavady. The school comprises two separate wings and an adjacent headmaster’s house. The wing closest to Greystone Road is T-shaped, with red brick gables, a rendered first floor, and a yellow rustic brick ground floor. The second block is in red brick, featuring a flat roof and more regular window placement. The headmaster’s house combines red brick and render, prominently featuring a tall stair window. Scattered around the grounds are plinths and brick arches supporting finials and other carved architectural features that are likely remnants of the earlier Greystone Hall. The original Greystone Hall, mentioned in Ordnance Survey Memoirs from 1833-35, was described as a large brick house begun in 1831 and completed in 1833. The school was designed by Noel E Campbell, and the buildings have undergone some minor renovations and extensions.
