Bridge, Pellipar Estate, Ballyquin Road, Dungiven, Co Londonderry

A late Georgian bridge, likely constructed between 1780 and 1799, spans a small stream on the Pellipar Estate, off Ballyquin Road, Dungiven, Co Londonderry. The bridge was built to serve as the main avenue approach to Pellipar House.

The stone bridge features a single semi-circular arch with stilted or vertical sides, spanning 1.5 metres. It is constructed from rubble sandstone and follows a slight curve. The parapet walls extend for 32 metres, encompassing a 7.5-metre wide carriageway. The low parapets are only two courses high. Concrete buttresses are positioned on the upstream side, and the high abutments reflect the fact that the stream bed is considerably below carriageway level. The avenue leading to the bridge gently curves from the gate lodges at the northern end of the Pellipar House grounds, sweeping in curves towards the house.

An Ordnance Survey map from 1832 depicts the bridge alongside a pair of gate lodges at the avenue entrance. The bridge may have been improved around 1820; John McCluskey noted in 1821 that the approach had been "tastefully improved". The bridge exhibits characteristics of industrial archaeological interest.
