17 Terrydoo Road, Drumramer, Limavady, Co Londonderry, BT49 OPF

This is a derelict, three-roomed direct entry cottage dating from between 1820 and 1839. It is of local and potentially national interest as a variation on a common building type, principally due to its surviving roof construction, attempts to prevent collapse, and an unusual truss and stud wall between the kitchen and lower room. The cottage is whitewashed and faces southeast, situated almost perpendicular to Terrydoo Road. Remnants of tin outbuildings are visible in a small front farmyard. A barn is attached to the northwest side, under the roof and abutting the road, with a single door positioned beside the end wall of the house. A single window lights the upper room, another similar window lights the kitchen, and a third illuminates the lower room. The southwest gable is constructed from recent blockwork. The rear of the cottage lacks a bed outshot, with windows providing light to the kitchen and lower room. A second, more dilapidated building, similar in style, is located behind the cottage at an angle. The cottage was used as a farmhouse until the 1970s, when the current owners moved to a neighbouring house. The lower room appears to have been divided into two spaces, indicated by a change in paint colour; a subsequently removed stud wall divided the room during a conversion to an outhouse. An Ordnance Survey map from 1831 shows the building in use.
