Description

A single storey gabled 5-bay building with a projecting gabled porch. Main entrance faces south-east. Roofs slated, with a smooth rendered chimney to each gable. Walls of roughly coursed limestone rubble with raised smooth rendered block dressings to openings on entrance front; gables rendered with dry dash; brick block dressings to rear wall. Small plaque in apex of porch gable, inscribed "Loughgall National School 1862". PVC rainwater goods. Windows are modern rectangular timber fixed lights with top-hung vents. Main entrance doorway is rectangular timber. SETTING: The building stands in a rural location, facing the public road but set back from it within its own tarmac yard. Front boundary formed by original hooped and decorative iron railings containing a gate of similar design set in a pair of narrow cast iron fluted piers with decorative finials; railings terminate at each end in square rendered piers and screen walls.
