6-18 Wall Road, Gilford, Banbridge, Co Down, BT63 6WR

The building at 6-18 Wall Road in Gilford was formerly a terrace of two-storey, two-bay houses. It was constructed after 1860 and comprised two terraces. The upper terrace consisted of ten houses stepped downhill, built with whitened brickwork and slated roofs. The lower terrace retained three houses with stone and brick whitened walls and slated roofs. The First Survey card documented original features including slate patterns on some roofs, broad boarded doors, patterned fanlights, two-light segmental-headed shop windows, and a significant number of original fully glazed sash windows. Lower terrace ground floor windows featured large double-height windows with six panes in the upper sash and three panes in the lower. Condition precluded preservation, and the terrace was subsequently demolished and replaced with a modern housing development. The buildings did not appear on Ordnance Survey maps of 1833 or 1860, but were shown on maps from 1903–04. A survey was conducted on 29 September 1970.
