Description

A former nineteenth-century terrace of two-storey two-bay brick houses, located on Castle Hill, Gilford. 6/6 sliding sash windows and timber sheeted doors on plinth blocks. Now demolished. The First Survey card records: 'Post 1860. A number of houses in the street preserve original glazing and fanlights but generally modernisation has destroyed the character of the terrace. Nine brick built two – storey houses stepped downhill are original apart from front doors and additions at rear. The buildings are roofed with slates and the chimneys are of brickwork. All windows are D/H with full glazing bars set in wide frames. All entrances are recessed in square headed openings with two-pane fanlights. Three doors are original (s)tyle of sheeting, five are modern flush and one is modern sheeted and glazed.
