Castle Street, Gilford, Banbridge, Co Down, BT63 6JS

This was a former three-storey house and surgery dating to the nineteenth century. It had a slated roof and rendered walls. The building was demolished and replaced with a modern surgery building around 1990. An early survey from before 1833 described the building as an L-shaped, two-storey house with harled and whitened walls and a steeply pitched slated roof with hips and gables. The windows were triple-glazed and double-hung with full glazing bars. The main entrance featured a recessed elliptical arched surround, a panelled door flanked by three-pane sidelights, and decorative glazing in the fanlight. A two-window-wide brick house was attached, and buildings to the rear, in Mill Street, spanned the mill race via a segmental arch. The building appeared on an Ordnance Survey map of 1833 and was extended to the rear before 1860. A survey was conducted on 29 September 1970. The listing record notes that the building is not listed, has no architectural or historical interest, and is a partial survey only.
