This is a two-storey house located at 40 Springfield Road, Portavogie, Newtownards, County Down. While it appears modern, it incorporates elements of a late 19th-century single-storey dwelling that originally stood on the site.

The original single-storey house, built in the latter decades of the 19th century, was originally characterized by a decorated doorway, vermiculated quoins, finials, and sash windows with astragals. It was substantially rebuilt between 1980 and 1999. During this reconstruction, window and door openings were enlarged, and modern PVC doors and windows were installed. The exterior is now finished with limestone chip render and pan tiles. The original decorative features have been lost.

While the current owner believes the house is an extension of the original building, the extent of modern reconstruction suggests the 19th-century structure was largely demolished. The resulting house bears no resemblance to the original in terms of decoration or proportion and is effectively a modern structure.
