7 Court Street, Newtownards, Co. Down, BT23 3NX

This is a dilapidated two-storey gabled terrace house, dating to the 1840s, situated on the south side of Court Street in Newtownards. The front facade, facing north, features an "Ards" doorway to the right, which has a relatively modern, but decaying, timber door and a plain fanlight. To the left of the doorway is a sash window with horizontal glazing bars, and above are two similar, slightly narrower windows. The facade is covered in painted lined render, with chamfered quoins, a plinth, and is heavily soiled. The western gable is finished in plain cement render and has a large billboard attached.

The rear of the house is finished in rough cast, with a large crack above the first-floor window. There's a dilapidated sash window to the first floor on the right and a smaller similar window at an intermediate level to the left. The roof is gabled, covered in Bangor blue slates, and has rendered parapets and metal rainwater goods. Two rendered chimney stacks are also present.

Court Street was laid out in the 1840s, named for its proximity to a medieval priory that served as a courthouse between 1817 and 1850. The 1858 Ordnance Survey map shows the south side of the street was fully developed by this date, including this house. The property is now in poor condition, with the houses to either side having been demolished, replaced by a modern furniture store to the east and a car park to the west.
