21-23 Church Street, Portaferry, Co Down, BT22 1LS

This is a pair of small, one and a half storey houses built around 1903. They are mirror images of each other, differing only in their window frame types and colour schemes. The front elevation faces west. Number 21 features a timber panel door with a plain fanlight to the right and a sash window to the left. Above, two windows are set within a large half-dormer with a hipped, slated roof. Painted brick dressings highlight the openings, while the façade is finished with painted lined render and has a chamfered plinth and an eaves course. Number 23 is a mirror image of Number 21, but with modern window frames. The exposed gable of Number 23 is rendered.

At the rear of Number 21 is a recent lean-to single-storey extension, with a door to the left and a two-pane sash window to the right. A further sash window with vertical astragal is located to the right of the extension. The first floor above mirrors these features with two similar windows. The rear of Number 23 is a mirror image of Number 21, with a flat-roofed extension and modern window frames. The roofs are gabled and covered with Bangor blue slates and fireclay ridge tiles. A single yellow brick chimney stack with pots is situated between both houses, while a rendered chimney stack is visible on the exposed gable to the north of Number 23.

According to current residents, the houses were built in 1903. They are located within a conservation area.
