Description
The site represents the location of a former single-storey semi-detached house situated on the west side of Abbey Road in the hamlet of Ballyfrenis. The house, likely of mid-19th century origin (approximately 1840-1859), was demolished around 1982 and replaced by a modern dwelling. The adjacent house to the south has been partially demolished. The original cottage had a slated roof, gable ends, and rendered chimneys. It featured rendered and white-painted walls, two double-hung windows with Georgian panes, and a central, sheeted door. A building is depicted on the Ordnance Survey map of 1858-60, which is believed to correspond with the house that was later demolished. Historical records, including Griffith’s valuation for the townland of Ballyfrenis in 1863, document the property.
