Former Oxfam Gift Shop, 133 High Street, Holywood, Co Down

The former Oxfam Gift Shop, originally a single-story house with an attic and basement, was demolished and replaced by a modern sheltered housing complex. A field survey from 1973 described the original building as having a slated roof with rendered gable ends and chimneys. The walls were rendered and lined, with a moulded sill course and base. It featured twin corbelled eaves. The front of the building was approximately 35 feet wide. The windows were double-hung without astrays, set within moulded architraves with outer pilasters supporting decorative brackets below a dentilled cornice hood, with shaped blocking above the central doorway, which featured a similar surround although without architrave. A plain fanlight and panelled door completed the front facade. An outbuilding was located in front of the house on the left-hand side, as shown on the Ordnance Survey map of 1834. The 1973 survey noted the building was in poor condition. Notably, the building was not listed for its architectural or historical interest, and only a partial survey was conducted.
