Sea View, 21 Tullynagee Road, Drumhirk, Comber, Co. Down, BT23 5NJ

Sea View is a relatively plain, two-storey farm house likely dating from the 1880s, located on a hilltop to the west of Tullynagee Road, approximately 2.5 miles south of Comber. A large, modern flat-roofed extension was added to the rear in 1977.

The front (east) facade features a central panelled door with two-pane sidelights, which include panelled aprons, and an elliptical arch fanlight divided into five panes. The doorway is framed by panelled pilasters and an archivolt with a moulded keystone. There are three steps leading to the doorway. Flanking the doorway are sash windows with horizontal glazing bars. The first floor mirrors the ground floor with three similar windows, but with segmental arch heads to the openings. The south gable has a window on the first floor with a modern frame. A window is situated on the ground floor and first floor of the north gable, corresponding to the front windows. The ground floor rear facade has a window to the right, and flanking this is a two-storey gabled return with modern windows of varying sizes to the south and rear gable. A large, two-storey flat-roofed extension, with large modern windows to the north and a rear doorway, is attached to the north side of the return and the main rear facade.

The rear and south gable are finished with rough cast rendering, while the front and north gable have a ‘rough’ render with visible lines. Chamfered quoins are present on the front and north gable, and a chamfered base runs along the front north and south sides. The roof, excluding the extension, is covered in Bangor blue slates with a slight overhang and decorative barge boards on the north side. Two yellow brick chimney stacks rise from the main roof, and a taller yellow brick chimney is located on the return. A yellow clay parapet is situated on the return. Two small cast iron skylights are set into the south side of the return roof. Rainwater goods are a combination of PVC and cast iron. Outbuildings are located to the west and south.

Although a building is depicted on the site on Ordnance Survey maps of 1834 and 1858, the current building dates from the later 19th century. The current owner believes the property was built in 1888 by two local brothers, reportedly draughtsmen, named Gabby, a date which also appears on one of the outbuildings.
