Description

This is a two-storey terrace house likely dating from before 1834, situated on the south side of Bridge Street in Comber, County Down. The house occupies a site that was demonstrably occupied since at least 1722, and valuation records from 1834 suggest the current dwelling was present and of considerable age at that time, belonging to a Mrs. Armstrong.

The front (north) facade features a modern glazed and PVC front door, centrally located on the left side of the ground floor, framed by plain pilasters, an entablature, and a cornice. To the left of the door is a window with a simple moulded surround and a recently installed PVC frame, a style shared by most of the windows. A second window, similarly styled and positioned further to the right of the door, completes the ground-floor openings. Above, three smaller windows align with the ground-floor openings. The east gable is blank.

At the rear, a small, single-storey lean-to extends from the centre and left side of the ground floor, connecting to a long row of single-storey outbuildings to the south. A partly glazed door and a small fixed light window are featured on the eastern face of the lean-to, while a window is located to the right on the main rear facade. The first floor rear features three windows of slightly different sizes, all with PVC frames, with the central window incorporating stained glass.

The front facade is finished with lined render, with chamfered quoins at the front and base, and painted. The rear paintwork is discolored. The roof is gabled, covered in natural slate, and incorporates red clay parapets. Two rendered chimney stacks are present, along with cast iron rainwater goods. A wrought iron gate leads to the gable.
