The site represents the location of a small, single-storey thatched house, likely dating to the early nineteenth century. It was demolished in 1982 and a modern dwelling now occupies the space on the west side of the Millisle Road, approximately half a mile north of Millisle. The house was originally described as having gable ends with a thatched roof, a brick and rendered chimney, and roughcast, whitewashed walls. The front elevation featured two small, horizontally-divided windows with Georgian panes and a single horizontal astragal, alongside a central door with a half-door shed on the west gable. An Ordnance Survey Map from 1833/4 indicates a cluster of small structures on the site, one of which corresponded to the position of the later thatched cottage. Valuation records from the 1830s, Ordnance Survey maps from 1833/4 and 1858-60, and “Griffith’s” valuation from 1863, held at the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI), document the site's historical use. The vernacular character of the building is noted. The site was previously considered for listing but was delisted on 6th August 1990.
