The site represents the location of a former single-story thatched vernacular dwelling, likely constructed before 1858, which was demolished in 1994. A modern house now stands nearby. The original cottage, located just north of Vestry Road, approximately 1.5 miles south of Ballygowan, was initially surveyed in 1974. It was described as having a thatched roof, gable ends, brick chimneys, rendered and whitewashed walls, and a front facade featuring three drop-hung windows; two had margin lights, while the right-hand window lacked astragals. A glazed and sheeted door was positioned between the first and second windows, and the building was noted to be in fair to poor condition, with a frontage of about 42 feet.

The site was marked on Ordnance Survey maps from 1834 and 1858, although the 1833 map depicts the building at a slightly different angle than the later map or the house that was present until 1994. Valuation records from 1834 did not mention the building itself, but the land surrounding it was owned by Robert Conolly. A valuation around 1863 recorded the house, which was assessed at a modest £1-15-0 and was possessed by a William Craig. The property was later owned by Mr. R.J. Craig, likely a descendant or relative of William. A replacement dwelling was built in the early 1980s, and the original house was subsequently demolished in 1994. The townland of Ravara was formerly part of the Londonderry Estate.
