Bridge, off Ravara Road, Ravara, Ballygowan, Co. Down, BT23 6HD

A road bridge of rubble construction with a sandstone arch, situated off Ravara Road, near Ballygowan in County Down. The bridge was likely built between 1856 and 1857 to carry the Ravara Road across the then-new Belfast County Down Railway line between Comber and Downpatrick, which officially opened in March 1859. It is shown on an Ordnance Survey map from 1858. The bridge is set at a slight skew and features an elliptical arch with sandstone voussoirs and a brick intrados. The sides of the bridge are partially obscured by extensive greenery. The road surface is tarmac. Following the railway's closure in 1950, the Ravara Road was straightened slightly to the north, and the road now provides access to private homes. The bridge is of industrial archaeological interest.
