Description
Upcote Cottage is a former row of small cottages that has been converted into a single dwelling. It dates from the 18th century, with alterations and extensions made in the 19th century. The building features walls made from mixed materials and has a combination of a tiled and thatched roof. It is one storey high with an attic and has four irregularly placed windows. The central section has a tiled roof with a later gable and two gabled dormers that have cills at eaves level. The north and south ends of the cottage are thatched with hipped ends, and the north side includes a tiled gabled dormer. The walls consist of stone rubble with brick dressings on one side, while another side is made of brickwork with rendering, all of which is now painted. There are two cambered openings for windows, which are fitted with casements. The entrance features a boarded door set within a shallow timber-framed porch, while the door on the south side is plain. The former entrance on the north side has been replaced with later brickwork.
