Description

A single storey rubble stone cottage in a derelict condition, with traces of harling still remaining. Main entrance faces north-east. One window to the left of the porch and two to the right; porch smooth cement rendered; modern flush timber door. The roof has fallen in and the rear and sides of the building have been overgrown with vegetation. It was described in the first survey in 1971 as "A thatched cottage with harled and whitened walls. Two original small paned unrecessed sash windows flank a small projecting porch with lean-to slated roof on the front elevation. Gables rise to parapets, one surmounted by a brick chimney. Another brick chimney is set asymmetrically on the roof. There is a small projection to the north and a corrugated iron annex at rear." SETTING: The building stands in a very rural area, at an angle to the main road and set back from it within its own grassy plot which is thick with bushes and trees.
