Description
Burton Pynsent House is a country house built around 1756 for William Pitt, who inherited the estate from Sir William Pynsent. It was part of a wing of a larger house that was demolished around 1805 and was refurbished around 1925. The house is constructed of brick with Ham stone dressings and has a tiled roof. It has two storeys and an attic, featuring a symmetrical garden front with seven bays. The ground floor has large multi-paned windows, while the first floor has 2-light casements with glazing bars. The front has a parapet with a central pediment and cornice. The main entrance is centrally located, featuring a five-bay hood and glazed doors. There is also a principal door opening at the rear, which has a flat-roofed porch with semi-circular headed openings and a panelled door. The garden front is adorned with a parapet that includes stone balustrading.
