Description

This building, likely used for stabling for No. 10 Castle Street, dates from the early 18th century. It is constructed from red Wembdon Hill rubblestone with a rough freestone quoin on the right and features a double-Roman tile roof. The building has two storeys and a two-window range. The first-floor openings are positioned at eaves level, including a narrow 20th-century window on the left and a double unglazed loading bay in the centre with planked shutters. The ground floor has a central double doorway with a brick segmental relieving arch above a tall flat-arched opening, which contains 20th-century doors. To the left, there is a timber lintel above a rubble-blocked doorway, with a 19th-century two-light casement window below it, inserted into the wider doorway. On the right, there is a small six-pane fixed window. The right side of the building is whitewashed rubblestone, which is below the line of a lower-pitched roof of an adjacent building. The interior has not been inspected. A high rubblestone wall attached to the rear right borders the rear garden and connects to No. 10 Castle Street.
