ST2937SE CHANDOS STREET 736-1/10/32 (South side) Building and attached wall to north of No.10 Castle Street

Probably stabling to No 10 Castle Street (qv). Early C18. Red Wembdon Hill rubblestone with rough freestone quoin to right and a double-Roman tile roof. 2 storeys; 2-window range. Openings to first floor are at eaves level, a narrow C20 window to left and a double unglazed loading bay to centre with planked shutters. Double doorway to ground-floor centre has a brick segmental relieving arch over a tall flat-arched opening with C20 doors. To ground-floor left is a timber lintel to a rubble-blocked doorway; a C19 two-light casement window with brick infill directly below it has been inserted into the wider doorway. To right is a small 6-pane fixed window. The right return is whitewashed rubblestone below the line of a lower-pitched roof to an adjacent building. INTERIOR not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: high rubblestone wall attached to rear right, borders rear garden and is attached to No 10 Castle Street.
