Description
The Almshouses are a pair of semi-detached almshouses built in 1884. They are constructed from coursed and squared rubble with dressed quoins, and the left return is rendered. The buildings feature a tile roof with moulded copings at the verges and a large central ashlar stack. Designed in a Gothic style, they are two storeys high with an attic and consist of one and a half bays.
On the first floor, there are three-light cusped stone-mullioned windows with iron casements and square-paned leaded lights. The ground floor has large canted ashlar bays, cornices, parapets, and copings, with windows featuring 1:2:1 lights and cusped iron casement leaded lights. Each return has a door opening with moulded stone surrounds that have a three-centred head and ribbed doors. A central inscription panel with an ornamental surround and cresting is also present.
