Description
This large barn, located to the east of the east end of the Church of St Mary and St John, is a late medieval tithe barn that is currently used for stock rearing. There is an addition to the west that is likely from the 18th century, and the barn has undergone alterations in the 20th century, including changes to the windows and internal divisions. The structure is built of random rubble with large dressed quoins and features a double-Roman tiled roof with coped verges. It has a rectangular plan. On the north side, there is a partially blocked large carriage opening with shouldered wooden jambs and a large wooden lintel, while a similar opening on the south side is completely blocked. Some late 19th-century windows have been inserted, along with further 20th-century fenestration. The north side also has a slender two-stage buttress at its center. Inside, the barn features an eight-bay tie-beam roof with windbracing. The 20th-century additions to the north and south are not of special interest.
