Description
The Laurels is a house dating from the 16th century, which was refronted on the gable end in the late 18th century. It features a random rubble construction with a rendered facade, ashlar quoins, and a coped verge. The roof is made of pantiles and has a ridge that runs at right angles to the current facade, supported by three brick stacks. The house is aligned traditionally, at right angles to the street, and has two storeys and an attic with two bays. It has sash windows with glazing bars set in plain stone surrounds, and there is a single opening at the center of the gable. To the right, there is a door opening with a similar stone surround, featuring a six-panelled door with the top two panels glazed and a transom light above. The left side of the house has a six-bay return with four moulded stone-mullioned windows of two lights, along with two additional 20th-century casements; the window at the extreme left is located in the gable. There is also evidence of the remains of the original roof structure.
