Description
No. 13 is a building dating from around 1683, featuring two storeys and an attic with a double gable front. The structure is made of rubble and has a pantile roof. It has two windows on the first floor, which are casements, and paired sash windows on the ground floor, along with a central door. At the rear, there is a gabled stair turret that includes a gable light and a two-light oak mullion window beneath it. The back door is framed by a moulded door surround.
Inside, the original oak and elm stairs above the first-floor landing have burred steps and incised moulding on the risers. There are paired doorways on the first-floor landing that feature stopped ovolo mouldings, and one room on this floor includes a strapwork panel in the lobby.
On the ground floor, the right-hand room has a decorative stop chamfer on the beam and a large lintel over a deep fireplace. This fireplace has a herringbone brick fireback with three triangular stones above, topped with ball capping and an inscription reading "16.E'(blank).83." This building is considered a very good example of its type.
