Description
Priory Barn is a 13th-century structure located down a lane from the north side of Priory Avenue. It is the only remaining building of the Augustinian Priory, which was founded around 1220. The barn is constructed of local stone rubble, with the north end repaired using red brick, and features an old tiled roof. There are various door and window openings made of Bishop's Lydeard stone. The south end of the barn is particularly well preserved, showcasing two 2-light early 14th-century windows that include dripmoulds and plate tracery. Inside, there is a later tie-beam roof. Priory Barn and St James's Vicarage form a group.
