Description

This milestone, located at Pitcher's Hill in Chedddon Fitzpaine, dates from the early 19th century. It is made of sandstone with a cast iron plaque attached to it, which is inscribed with the distance of "3 miles to Taunton." The plaque was noted to be in need of repainting as of March 1984. The road leading to Yard Barn from The Smith's shop at Rowbarton was turnpiked in 1752.
