Description
Allenbury is a house that dates from the 15th century, with modernisations and alterations from the 19th and 20th centuries. The exterior is rendered and whitewashed, topped with a thatched roof and featuring end brick stacks. It is designed as an open hall house, which has since been floored. The building consists of a single storey and an attic, with four bays and windows that are 2 and 3-light casements, each fitted with a single horizontal glazing bar. The first-floor windows are located under bonnet hoods. There is a door opening between the second and third bays, which features a 20th-century plank door and a thatched hood. Inside, there are notable features such as a jointed cruck truss, a timber-framed firehood, and a timber-framed partition.
