Description

This is a house dating from the 19th century, located on the north side of High Street in West Coker. It is constructed from ham stone with ashlar dressings, and has a hipped Welsh slate roof with concealed gutters. Two stone chimney stacks feature moulded caps. The house is two storeys high and has three bays. It has 16-pane sash windows set in plain surrounds. A central, projecting stone porch is topped by a full entablature, and features fluted Ionic pilasters and solid sides, accessible by five steps. Matching side elevations have an Ionic porch on the west side. A single-storey extension to the rear, westwards, has a gable cross finial that supports a local legend relating to a brief period as a religious establishment. The interior has not been inspected.
