Description

Furnham Inn is a public house built in the early 19th century, with alterations made in the late 19th century. The building features painted overhanging slate with some stucco on the lower right and plinth, and has a crested slate roof with brick stacks at the gable ends. The left side has a fretted bargeboard with a finial and pendant. To the rear right, there is an extension made of limestone rubble with brick quoins and a pantile roof.

The inn has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys high with a five-window range, facing south at right angles to Furnham Road. Originally, it had a symmetrical three-window range that was extended to the right in the late 19th century. A door from around 1930 is set in a plain rectangular porch, flanked by two metal-framed windows from the same period, which are in square openings with raised surrounds. The first floor features two early 19th-century pane sashes and a late 19th-century two-over-two pane window above the door.

The two-storey extension to the right is slate-hung at the first floor level and has two larger late 19th-century horned two-over-two pane sashes. The right return of the building is entirely slate-hung. There is a curved, single-storey stucco extension on the left return that dates from the 20th century. Additionally, there is a long single-storey extension, likely from the late 19th century, which is set back to the rear right and runs parallel to the facade. The interior has not been inspected.
