Description

A house and shop, with attached workshops, was built in the early 19th century. The house and shop are constructed of incised stucco with a slate roof, and the workshops have a pantile roof. Stepped stone copings and brick stacks mark the gable ends of the houses, while a ridge stack sits atop the workshop. The building has a double-depth central staircase plan. The shop, now with a blocked-up doorway set back, originally occupied the ground-floor room to the right.

The house is two storeys high and comprises three window bays. The recessed doorway has a 20th-century six-panel door and an overlight with two glazing bars. All windows are original 8/8-pane sashes, except for the early 19th-century shopfront to the right, which features slender pilasters, a simple cornice, and fixed 2-light windows with four panes each.

The workshop has a double-depth plan and is two storeys high with three window bays. A wide planked doorway with a four-pane overlight sits to the right. The ground floor of the workshop features two fixed casements of two lights, each with four panes. At the first floor, the left window has a fixed light of four panes wide by three panes deep, while the central and right windows are double versions of this design. To the left of the workshop is a later 19th-century dwelling, one window wide, with a four-panel door and 2/2-pane sash windows with horns. The interior of the main building was not inspected.
