Description
The Happy Return Public House is a building that originated as two houses, now combined into one property. It dates from the early 19th century. The left-hand house features a stucco exterior, a pantile roof, stepped stone copings, and a brick stack at the right gable end. It has a double-depth, symmetrical central-staircase layout, standing two storeys tall with a three-window range. The Regency-style doorcase includes a six-panel door with glazed top panels. All windows in this section are late 19th-century sashes with forward frames and three panes over three, except for the window above the door, which has two panes over two. The right-hand section, which was a former house built around 1840, also has a double-depth plan with a staircase hall to the right. This section is two storeys high with a two-window range and features original eight-over-eight pane sash windows. The interior has not been inspected.
