Description
The former icehouse to Shapwick House, now disused, dates from the late 18th century. The exterior looks like an earth-covered mound with a door opening to the east, framed by a low brick surround and flanked by short sections of rubble wall; the door was missing at the time of the re-survey in December 1984. Inside, the structure is entirely lined with high-quality brickwork and features a domed ceiling. This building is primarily noted for its group value with Shapwick House, which is located some distance to the south, highlighting its significance in the context of social history.
