Description
The Reading Room is a 19th-century building located on the south side of Great Street in Norton Sub Hamdon. It is constructed from cut and squared Ham stone and features a clay pantiled roof with a stepped coped gable at the west end and an abutment at the east. The building is a single-storey, single-bay structure that includes a horizontal bar three-light casement window. There is a lean-to addition against the west gable that matches the main building, which has a boarded door set in a plain recess and a two-light 20th-century casement window. Additionally, there is a small three-light casement window in the west gable of the main building, positioned above the lean-to roof. The interior has not been seen, but it is noted that the building was formerly used as a blacksmith's premises.
