Description

Pear Tree Cottage is a detached cottage dating from around 1700. It is constructed of roughly cut and squared ham stone with ashlar dressings, and has a Welsh slate roof, likely replacing an earlier thatched roof. The gables are plain, and there are two chimney stacks, one of yellow brick and one of stone. The cottage is positioned at a right angle to the road and has two storeys and three bays. It features hollow-chamfer mullioned windows set in chamfered recesses. A hood mould is above the lower window in the first bay, and the lower window in the third bay appears to have been heightened. The windows are rectangular-leaded with iron-traded opening lights; the upper windows are two-light and the lower windows are three-light. A chamfered, cambered-arched doorway, with a deeply lintolled label, is located in the second bay, leading to a 20th-century boarded door. The rear elevation includes an additional two-light window and a small stairlight. The interior was not inspected during the listing process.
