Description
Preywater House is a detached house dating from the 18th century, with an earlier wing on the right side. The building is constructed of rubble and features roofs made of pantiles and double Roman tiles, with coped verges and brick stacks. It has an L-shaped plan with one bay on the left and two bays on the right. The ground floor has flush mounted sash windows with exposed sash boxes, consisting of 12 panes, while the first floor has 4-pane sash windows with wooden lintels. The door is located to the left and is a six-panelled door, with the top two panels glazed and a tent-hood supported by scrolly wrought-iron brackets. The earlier portion on the right features 2-light 20th-century casements with glazing bars, located in gabled dormers on the first floor. Inside, there are bread ovens, a fireplace with a broad wooden bressumer, and 18th-century doors.
