Description
East Court is a small country house dating from 1773, originally built for the Salmons family. The house is constructed of Flemish bond red brick with freestone dressings and features hipped slate roofs, two box dormers, and rendered stacks at each end. The front of the building is symmetrical, with three storeys and five bays, showcasing sash windows that have glazing bars and flat stone heads with stepped voussoirs.
The central entrance has an architrave door opening topped with a pediment supported by consoles, leading to a half-glazed door and a Gothick fanlight. There are four stone steps leading up to the door. The exterior is further enhanced by rusticated end pilasters, a moulded stone cornice, a brick parapet with stone coping, and a plain stone band at the first-floor level.
To the right, there is a later two-storey, single-bay wing, and to the left, a later single-storey, one-bay wing with an angular stone bay in the end elevation. Inside, the house retains some 18th-century features, including doors and a staircase.
