Description
The Easton family memorial is located in the churchyard of the Church of St Giles, about 3 meters south of the porch. This mid-19th century chest tomb is made from an unidentified stone and features a flat top with a convex moulded cornice, a moulded plinth, and spiral fluted columns at the corners, along with moulded panels. The inscription on the top commemorates Josiah Easton of Hele, who died in 1848, and his wife Hannah, who died in 1857. The Easton family was known for their engineering contributions, particularly in the construction of the Great Western Canal. Josiah Easton built Hele Mount, which is not included in this listing, and there is also a memorial to this significant local family inside the Church of St Giles.
