Description
The building is a dovecote, now converted into a garage, located 40 metres south of Manor House Farmhouse. It is probably of medieval origin and is constructed from local lias stone that has been cut and squared. The roof is covered with double Roman clay tiles and features stepped coped gables with gabletted finials. The dovecote has a double square plan and originally accommodated about 650 birds, with capacity increased by about 130 when a dividing wall was added, likely during the 18th century when the roof was renewed. The original doorways were presumably on the north side, which now has 20th-century garage openings. There is a lean-to on this side with garage doors, and a small timber-framed opening with a central iron bar is located high in the south wall.
