Description
The Strode Arms Inn is an inn that dates from the 17th century and was altered in the 19th century. It is constructed of coursed and squared rubble, featuring coped verges and a slate roof, with an ashlar stack that has a moulded cap and a brick stack. The building has two storeys and nine bays, with predominantly 2-light moulded stone-mullioned windows and cornice drips. There is a single-light opening on the first floor, while the ground floor includes a 4-light stone-mullioned window, a 4-pane sash window set in a freestone surround, and a 20th-century concrete-mullioned window. The inn has three door openings with stone architraves; one on the ground floor has a cornice drip and plank doors. There is also a door opening to the right on the first floor, which is accessed by a flight of stone steps set on a restored brick base. A timber gallery at the first floor level connects to an adjoining outbuilding that has a double Roman tiled roof. Inside, there is a large open fireplace.
