Description

This is a former inn, with origins in the 16th century, but largely rebuilt in the 18th and early 19th centuries. The exterior is rendered with roughcast and colourwashing, and has slate roofs with coped verges and brick stacks. It is two storeys high, with a five-bay facade. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars. A projecting wing on the left has a front-facing gable, featuring a window on the first floor within an 18th-century architrave with a keystone. On the ground floor of this wing is a hollow-moulded three-light stone-mullioned window. There are two door openings with paired half-glazed doors, one incorporating a transom light with ornamental glazing bars. An ornamental iron bracket supports a signboard on the frontage. The interior contains some features of interest.
