Description
This chest tomb, dating from the 17th century, is located 2 meters south-west of the porch of the Church of St Mary in Bishop's Lydeard. It features a top made of ham stone and sides constructed from red sandstone, which includes an inserted panel. The tomb has a flat top with a bolection moulded cornice. The north and south faces have end bays adorned with cusped head arcades, and there is an inscribed panel on the north face, which is upside down and mostly illegible, except for the date 1621. The east and west ends of the tomb are plain, and it is deeply sunk into the ground.
