Description

Cedar Lodge, with an attached stable wing, is a detached house with outbuildings dating from the 18th century, possibly incorporating some 17th-century elements. The building is constructed from local lias stone that is roughly squared and coursed, with a roof covered in triple roll clay tiles and stepped coped gables. It features brick and stone chimney stacks at either end and is designed in an L-plan.

The south elevation is two storeys high and has two bays. It includes sash windows set in plain openings, with timber lintels below and stone above. The upper windows consist of 9 panes, paired in the first bay, while the lower bay features paired 12-pane lias windows. There is a boarded door in a heavy frame beneath a flat timber hood supported by shaped brackets, with an 8-pane sash window to the right. A single-storey, two-bay 20th-century extension is located on the east gable.

The east elevation of the south wing has three bays. It features a two-storey bay window with 8+16+8-pane sashes flanking a central leaded 18th-century two-light casement in a wooden frame above. Below this is a six-panel door under a flat timber hood on shaped brackets, flanked by 20th-century metal casements that match the windows above.

Extending from the south gable is a thatched single-storey stable block, which includes a wagon shed at the southern end. Attached to the south end of this stable block is another wagon shed, covered in clay tiles and likely built in the late 18th century, featuring a three-centre voussoired archway and double doors. The interior has not been seen.
