Description

A farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with later additions in the mid-19th century. The house is constructed of red sandstone, with a colourwashed facade and a thatched roof hipped to the right. A double-span slate roofed addition extends to the rear. A large, external stepped stone stack is visible on the front facade to the left of the original entrance, with a stone stack to the right and brick gable ends on the C19 addition.

The plan is of 3 cells with a cross passage, which has been enlarged. The building has one and a half storeys and four bays. It features 3-light leaded dormer windows. The ground floor has a 4-light ovolo moulded mullion window to the right of the main entrance, a 3-light casement window to the left of the stack, and a further 3-light window with a small lancet bay to the far right. The original cross passage entrance is located to the left of the stack, with a plank door and a pentice stone hood supported on wrought iron brackets. The present main entrance is in the outer bay to the left, with a gabled and thatched rustic wooden porch and a plank door.

Inside, there are two pairs of jointed cruck roof timbers, and two single cruck timbers, exposed. An arch-headed doorway is on the ground floor, with moulded beads running out to a point. A plank and muntin screen is visible on the kitchen side of the cross passage.
