Description
The chest tomb to Thomas Heale Junior is located in the churchyard, 14 metres south of the south chapel of the Church of St. Michael. It dates from the 17th century and is made of dressed stone. The tomb features three shallow semi-circular head niches on each side, with slightly emphasised keystones and imposts, and inscriptions in each niche. There is a similar niche at each end of the tomb. The slab top is decayed and has a moulded edge.
The inscription in the niche on the east corner of the south side reads: "My Babes That Died Not Long Before Shall Raise And Reign For Ever More." The centre panel states: "My Life Unto My Friends Is Lost Yet To Me Is Found, It Was Brought From Bed Unto This Ground ......". The panel on the west side notes: "Here Lieth The Body Of Thomas Heale Junior Who Departed This Life The 26th ......". The remainder of the inscriptions is obscured by the raised ground level and is much decayed.
