Description
The churchyard cross, located about 80 meters south of the chancel of the Church of St Peter and St Paul, is a notable structure from the 15th century. The original socket dates back to the 15th century, but the cross was rebuilt in the style of the 15th century in 1891 by Edmund Buckle in memory of Miss Florence Buller, the sister of Rev Prebendary Buller. It is made of Ham stone and features a three-stage calvary with a nosing and a chamfered plinth. The octagonal socket is decorated with quatrefoil panels and trefoil-headed niches on square angled shafts, as well as crocketted decoration and a cross. The upper stage of the calvary is inscribed with the names and dates of the Buller family. This reconstruction is considered to be of high quality.
