Description
The George Dymock chest tomb, located in the churchyard about 6 meters northeast of the north chancel aisle of the Church of St John the Baptist, dates from 1840. It is made of Ham stone and features a ledger top with a recessed band that bears an inscription. The tomb has a moulded cornice and a tall chamfered plinth, with deeply cut Perpendicular style panelling on all sides, including quatrefoils with arched recesses. The inscription on the top commemorates George Dymock, who died in 1840. It is possibly designed by Richard Carver, who restored the church.
