Description
The aqueduct at NGR ST 1468 2234 is a Grade II listed structure that was built around 1828 by James Green. It formerly carried the Grand Western Canal over the River Tone but is now disused. The aqueduct is constructed from squared and coursed sandstone with dressed voussoirs. It features a very flat single arch span and a continuous string course, although little of the parapet above remains. The walls are swept back on either side to piers, which are obscured by ivy as noted during a survey in January 1985, and the southeastern pier is missing.
