Description
Newton House is a house dating to the late 16th and early 17th centuries, with an 18th-century wing added to the rear. The main portion of the house is roughcast on a rubble plinth, with an offset pantile roof and coped verges. It has projecting brick-capped stacks to each return, although the stack on the left is obscured by a 17th-century addition. The house has two storeys and three bays, featuring 3-light casement windows; two windows on the ground floor are 19th century, and those on the first floor and the centre of the ground floor were renewed in the late 20th century. The ground-floor openings have moulded stone surrounds with stopped labels. A door opening is located in the brick wing, which extends at a right angle to the rear. The interior includes a framed ceiling, and a room on the left of the ground floor boasts an ornamental plaster ceiling and a moulded cornice, along with other smaller details.
